Yesterday i stumble across aan Xtreme force shock pad (USB wired gamepad) mod 94270, very very cheap, i paid 10 euros only, not extremely compatible with retropie emulationstation detected it as "microntek USB joystick", and thoug all key were recognized, i was not able to configure analog sticks because these are reporte as "already taken" by emulationstation (seens as the dpad i suppose). Gonna eventually give up usin it in retropie, i'll give away as a gift… ) Gonna take a second f310 as soon as i manage EasyMSX gave me no problems in recalbox, while in retroie i had some issues. Weel actually i'm more of a "plug and play guy" instead of "plug and pray", since i like havin Always all stuff lock and load since i don't have much time for experimentation :) the f310 as far as i've seen is the most compatible gamepad so far, pheraps the Retropie wiki under the "controller" section needs to be updated. I just can't play fighters like Darkstalkers or SF types that require pad combos or the cross pad breaks down faster. Click Here for the current price.Said in What controller do you use in Retropie?: I purchased the Buffalo USB SNES controller from Amazon. This means the d-pad doesn’t feel as solid as the original controller but doesn’t impact gaming performance. Whilst the d-pad is great, pressing on is makes a popping sound. I can assure you that the d-pad, often the biggest disappointment of any controller, feels great here. The buttons have good tactile feedback to them so you know when they’ve been pressed.

That’s it.īoth Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 detected it and installed drivers. Various games and emulators let me map it without any trouble.ĭuring my gaming tests, everything responded perfectly and I didnt encounter any lag or missed keys.

The Buffalo USB controller is dead simple. It really feels like using the original controller which is awesome. I guess you could argue that it adds to the retro charm however.Ĭompared to an original SNES controller, it’s essentially identical apart from the turbo buttons and Buffalo branding. However, with wireless controllers being commonplace, it is a small source of frustration. The cable is 1.8m long, which is great for setting at your desk or in front of your TV. However, Buffalo have also added turbo and clear buttons to replicate rapidly pushing the same button over and over again. The controller has all the SNES buttons: Face buttons, Start, Select, d-pad and shoulder buttons. It’s clear that Buffalo have tried to remain true to the source. It feels well made enough that that you won’t break it during a furious Street Fighter 2 round. My memories may be a little fuzzy regarding the original SNES controller from my youth but this one feels just about right. The controller isn’t super heavy but not ultra light either, like I found the Retrolink ones to be.

This controller is incredibly simple to use so the manual is more of a obligatory inclusion than a necessity. The Buffalo controller comes with the bare minimum, packing in the controller and a small manual entirely in Japanese.
